Relocation and Redevelopment of Ebenezer School and Homes for the Visually Blind
The Ebenezer School and Homes for the Visually Blind at Pok Fu Lam have been in place for a long time, and are restricted in meeting the latest standards and serving greater number of students. There have been plans to relocate to a more central location of Hong Kong to better cater for students from all parts of the territory, also taking the opportunity to enhance the facilities and services.
Masterplan Limited has been assisting Ebenezer in its relocation plan from the Pok Fu Lam site, serving planning input in maximising land use and searching for suitable site, for more than 10 years.
In maximising the land use, the School made a Section 12A application to rezone its Pok Fu Lam site in 2011. The Town Planning Board, while rejected the application for residential development, decided to rezone the site to “Comprehensive Development Area”.
Since then, the School has been searching for a relocation site, for which Masterplan Limited has been advising planning implications and the way forward. The School has been studying the feasibility of potential relocation site at any point of time.
The existing Ebenezer facilities at the remaining “G/IC” at Pok Fu Lam site will be modified and continue to serve as a resource centre for teachers.
The new facility at a more central location of Hong Kong will better cater for students with enhanced facilities and services.
Future planning applications for development at the “Comprehensive Development Area” at Pok Fu Lam will ensure the ongoing welfare of the students.
